By definition, the word “Baptize” means “"immerse" or "to dip under water.” We believe in baptism by Immersion because: Jesus was baptized that way. As soon as Jesus was baptized, He went up out of the water. Matt. 3:16 Baptisms in the Bible were by Immersion. ... then both Philip and the man went down into the water and Philip baptized him. When they came up out of the water... Acts 8:38-39 Immersion best symbolizes a burial and resurrection. When someone becomes a Christian, he becomes a brand new person inside. Some churches practice infant baptism. At Harvest Community Church, we baptize only those who have personally chosen to place their faith in Jesus. In Scripture, baptism always follows belief. Infant baptism developed later in church history as a ceremony emphasizing parents’ commitment to raise their child in the faith. While we honor that intention, we practice child dedication to affirm parents’ role in spiritually raising their children. If you were baptized as an infant, we encourage you to be baptized by immersion as a believer.

No. Baptism is available to anyone who has made the decision to follow Jesus, whether or not you are a member of Harvest Community Church. That said, we encourage people to be baptized within the context of a church community they are connected to, or by a pastor who has played a meaningful role in their salvation or spiritual growth.
