Here are Five Simple Steps To Communicate:

Step #1: BELIEVE…that Jesus Died on the cross for me and showed He was God by coming back to life.

“And it is this Good News that saves you… that Christ died for our sins just as the Scriptures said he would, and that he was buried, and that three days afterwards he arose from the grave just as the prophets foretold.”    
1 Corinthians 15:2-4

Step #2: ACCEPT…God’s free forgiveness for my sins.
Now God says he will accept and acquit us--declare us "not guilty"--if we trust Jesus Christ to take away our sins. And we all can be saved in this same way, by coming to Christ, no matter who we are or what we have been like.  Romans 3:22 LB

Step #3: SWITCH…to God’s plan for my life and turn from my sins.
Turn from your sins and act on this glorious news! Mark 1:15 LB

Don’t let the world squeeze you into its own mold, but let God remake you so that your whole attitude of mind is changed. Romans 12:2

Step #4: EXPRESS…my desire for Christ to be the Lord and director of my life.
If you confess with your lips, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

Step # 5: A Prayer of INVITATATION
If the person you are leading to Jesus agrees with and desires to take the four above steps, then you can lead them in a simple “relational” prayer of invitation.  If you’d like, you can lead them in the prayer—as they repeat it after you.  Remember, it is not the exact words of the prayer, which bring salvation; it’s the heart of the one praying it.  So, don’t feel you need to speak this prayer verbatim—just lead them in the basics.  Here is a good prayer example:

 

                A SAMPLE PRAYER:
 

  • Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of friendship and eternal life that you have offered me.
  • I now desire to receive all that you have given.

 

  • I believe you sent Your Son, Jesus, to die for my sins so I can be forgiven. 
  • Please forgive me and cleanse me from the inside out.

 

  • I invite you to lead my life from this day forward.
  • I welcome your Holy Spirit to help me become like Jesus.
  • In Jesus name.  Amen.

After someone prays this (with you), look them in the eye and speak affirming words.  Remind them of what has just happen (i.e. They have been adopted into the family of God! Angels in heaven are rejoicing!!!).  Then make yourself available, as they begin this new journey.
